Dabbling with Technology

Attended an IT course as requested by my profession and the Ministry. One of the Web 2.0 tools introduced was: Animoto.com

Pretty cool website I'd say, especially for a tech noob like me. I'm bad with multimedia projects and this is easy for a noob like me with zero video-making skills.

Was playing around with the website and created this. A tribute for Just You, at:

Create your own video slideshow at animoto.com.

Enjoy! :)

"Did You Know?"

Was at an ICT Course when the trainer showed us the following video from: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=PHmwZ96_Gos&feature=related

The video really got me thinking. I can't help but agree that we are living in an exponential world - the pace of technological advances in this digital era is an exponential curve.

Though I must say I'm lucky to be born in Generation Y to have experienced both the "old school days" and the digital era. Adapted we have, when Gen Y crossed from the "old school days" to the digital era as technology advanced, thus we are labeled as the digital immigrants. But somehow it is still daunting to know that the future is such an ever-changing one...what is fact now may simply become obsolete and irrelevant before you know it....

As compared to the next generation (Gen Z), who are born digital natives and embracing towards technology, will we be able to stay abreast and relevant to society? Somehow it is daunting to think about even though I have adapted and crossed over as a digital immigrant... =X

Tatty Bears

The tech noob is fiddling once again with technology. Found it fascinating (yet irritating to quite a bit with the html code fiddling...) how a webpage layout is written based on html code.

But I do admit that, at the end of it, being someone who is used to doing conventional art design, I found it fascinating that such typewritten text can be translated into a webpage design as my sis was teaching me how to change my blogskin.

What's the motivation to change the blogskin? Well...nothing. It was merely my younger sis' suggestion and challenge. And since tatty bears had been a significant figure to me, hence the choice of blogskin design.

I love my tatty bears!

IT-unsavvy teacher

As science teachers, more often than not, we do include drawings of apparatus set-ups, biological drawings etc., in our teaching slides. Being an IT- unsavvy person like me, I was frustrated at having to surf the internet for free sketching software to draw my lab set-up. Of which mostly were softwares to draw set-ups of more advanced chemistry like fractional distillation set-ups & reflux set-ups. Until I found this page that gave step-by-step instructions on how to draw simple lab apparatus.

Check it out: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Wikipedia:How_to_draw_a_diagram_with_Microsoft_Word

Wikipedia never fails to amaze me as always.
